Printing Optilux Reflectives On Nylon?
August 28, 2014
We've received a number of inquiries lately regarding ourOptilux® Reflective inks, specifically in regards to printing it on Nylon. The answer is "Yes," you can print the Optilux® on Nylon. The Optilux® system comes with a coupler, which helps the ink bond to the substrate.
The "Optilux" print shown on the left was printed using the Optilux® 505 Reflective ink and a 160 mesh screen, one pass. The top image was taken in regular light, the bottom image in darkness, using a flash.
We've also test-printed the Optilux® 505 on Nylon over a base color, in this case, our 904 Scarlet. Our 900 Series is specifically formulated for printing on Nylon, so we used the Scarlet and 901 White for the "IC" print shown below.
Here's how we did this particular print: 904 Scarlet, using 110 mesh > Flash. Then the Optilux® 505 using a 230 mesh (!) > Flash. Finally, we printed the 901 White using a 110 mesh.
Note: Printing over a color may diminish the reflectivity of the Optilux® inks.
As with ANY application, please wash-test your prints before starting a production run.
