Cool How-To Technique: Foil Application on AXEON™ Non-PVC Gel Gloss

Here's a cool technique to enhance your design or add bling using AXEON™ Non-PVC Crystal Clear Gel Gloss™ 1807 and foil. This technique creates a raised foil effect that adds texture and interest to your print!

 

To achieve the raised foil effect, we applied foil in-line to the gel portion of a just-flashed print. The gel gloss ink needs to be gelled under the flash first, then the foil applied while the ink is still hot. In our example, we applied the foil manually; however, this can also be done on an automatic press using specialized automated foiling systems.

 

Cure the ink at 325°F (163°C) for 1 minute.

 

We tested the adhesion of the foil for durability by subjecting the print to a wash test. Even after 5 rigorous washes, the foil looked great!
