For years, International Coatings has been pro-active and in many instances, even ahead of regulations governing certain chemicals as we steadily moved towards a more eco-conscious product line. Some of our most popular products were initially formulated with either no phthalates or without what are now restricted phthalates. All International Coatings inks meet current standards for lead and other heavy metals.
Shortly after California and federal regulations restricting the use of certain phthalates in children's toys and child care articles were announced in 2008, International Coatings began converting all of its product formulas to eliminate any question as to whether and which of its products can be used to meet government regulations and the requirements of major retailers.
All International Coatings ink products marked "Phthalate Compliant" or "Non Phthalate" comply with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 (CPSIA) (regarding lead and phthalate content) and the Consumer Product Safety Act, Title 16 CFR Part 1303 (regarding restrictions on lead in paint).*

Phthalate Compliant and Non-Phthalate Products*
All International Coatings ink products marked "Phthalate Compliant" or "Non Phthalate" comply with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 (CPSIA) (regarding lead and phthalate content) and the Consumer Product Safety Act, Title 16 CFR Part 1303 (regarding restrictions on lead in paint).* In other words, these inks are not formulated with the following six restricted phthalates nor are they intentionally added to these inks as part of the manufacturing process: DEHP (Di-2-ethylhexyl phthalate), DBP (Dibutyl phthalate), BBP (Benzyl butyl phthalate), DINP (Di-isononyl phthalate), DIDP (Di-isodecyl phthalate), and DnOP (Di-n-octyl phthalate).
For more information on the CPSIA regulations and Phthalates, please refer to our Phthalate fact sheet.
International Coatings' "Phthalate Compliant" product line, our Classic line, has slowly been converted to all "Non-Phthalate" products.
Here are International Coatings' eco-friendly ink lines:
"Centris" consists of our Non-Phthalate plastisol inks.
"AXEON™" is our line of Non-PVC, Non-Phthalate inks and
"Aquasoft®" consists of our Non-PVC, Non-Phthalate Water-base inks.
